Joystick Division: Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands Should Not Be Forgotten

“The games in the Prince of Persia franchise have been about stunning acrobatic platforming. The prince in TFS is as every bit as acrobatic as he has been in the past games. Platforming in previous games have generally been based around two button actions - one to jump and one button to run on walls. Skillfully controlling the prince is significantly more complex in TFS, however.

This two-button style only lasts for roughly the first two or so hours in TFS. The prince then gets the ability to solidify water; making the him able to run up waterfalls or swing on fountain streams. This power is controlled by pulling the left trigger on a 360 controller, adding a third button to the platforming mix. As the game progresses, the prince gains enough powers to take up the rest of the controller. Getting from one point to another near the game’s end becomes a full-controller process. The result is exhilarating and extremely satisfying.”
